This comet was found (by A. Nakamura) to be in outburst. CCD photometry obtained at Crni Vrh Observatory shows it at V=13.3 (July 26.08UT) which is about five magnitudes brighter than expected in ICQ 1996 Comet Handbook. The comet image was taken on 1996 July 26.076UT (start) with the 20-cm, f/2 Baker-Schmidt camera, V-filter and ST-6 CCD. Exposure time was 5 minutes. The frame field of view is 1.2x0.9 deg.
